Commercial features Minden’s GE Bently plant, employees

Carson Valley will be front and center in a documentary-style commercial filmed in Minden, featuring GE’s Bently Nevada’s plant and workers.

GE Spokeswoman Holly Spiers said Minden was selected as one of four GE businesses featured during a documentary on the industrial internet.

The CNBC program “Rise of the Machines,” airs 9 p.m. Wednesday and is presented by GE.

Reporter Melissa Lee will discuss the reality that there are more devices connected to the Internet than there are people.

The documentary will talk about computers and health care, smart homes, driverless cars and how Rio de Janeiro is preparing to host the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Summer Olympics using state of the art electronics.

It also explores how sensors are improving safety of railways and jetliners, saving time, money and possibly even lives.
