The RC Morning Report for Friday the 13th

A local government summit is this morning at the MontBleu in Stateline where representatives of 18 cities and Nevada’s 17 counties are meeting to discuss how state and federal issues will affect them. This is on the heels of the two day joint Nevada League of Cities and Nevada Association of Counties conference at Lake Tahoe.

Commissioner Doug Johnson was named to the NACO 2013 Honor Roll for his service to Douglas County and local communities in the State of Nevada. I know that Doug has served as president of the organization. Who knew that tipping a car over in protest could lead here?

The Nevada Highway Patrol is reporting a noninjury accident at Highway 395 and Sunridge at 6:46 a.m. Douglas County is out with a disabled vehicle in the median, so that may be it.

We had some nice thick river fog in the Valley this morning, but otherwise it’s all clear. The Rim fire is down to creeping and smoldering with some interior burning. At 255,858 acres, it only grew by 298 acres in the last 24 hours.

Expect mostly clear to sunny skies this weekened, with the southwest wind returning on Sunday. The good news? Hopefully, there won’t be much in the way of smoke to carry north from Yosemite. Expect high temperatures in the 80s, and lows in the 40s.
