Women’s motorcycle conference coming to Carson City
June 27, 2012
Western Nevada’s high desert roads and proximity to the Sierra is the main attraction for hundreds of motorcycle enthusiasts from around the world this summer when Carson City hosts the 2012 American Motorcycle Association’s International Women & Motorcycling Conference July 26-29.
Women riders will spend the weekend in the capital city with a slew of activities planned including inspirational speakers, demonstrations, product showcases and plenty of opportunities to ride. The Gold Dust West Casino is the host hotel.
AMA will focus on educating, encouraging, inspiring and mentoring women and the sport of motorcycling. Since 1924, the organization has promoted the motorcycle lifestyle. Previous meetings have been held in Keystone, Colo.; Athens, Ga.; Buckhannon, W.Va.; Athens, Ohio; and Westerville, Ohio.
“We chose Carson City as the venue for this national conference for the obvious riding opportunities, but also for the hospitality and friendliness of a small town,” said Tigra Tsujikawa, AMA spokeswoman. “Carson City has gone above and beyond the typical to demonstrate how much our business means to them.”
The AMA International Women & Motorcycling Conference allows attendees to connect with and learn from other women riders. Through seminars, activities, training classes and organized rides, women will work together to gain knowledge and skills to better navigate where the road or trail leads next.
“Regardless of bike brand, riding preference or background, women motorcyclists are bound together by their common passion for life on two and three wheels,” said Tsujikawa.
