Watershed Group seeks coordinator

The Alpine Watershed Group is looking for a new watershed coordinator to manage the organization’s water quality monitoring programs and watershed restoration.

The coordinator also assists with office management and organizational fundraising, and reports to the senior watershed coordinator. This is a contract position at 30-40 hours a week with an initial contract period of six months. Compensation will depend on experience.

The position is based in Markleeville.

The Alpine Watershed Group preserves and works to enhance the natural system functions of Alpine County’s watersheds for future generations.

The group monitors water quality, assists with restoration projects and engages community participation in order to help maintain healthy watershed systems projects in the headwaters of the Carson, Mokelumne, Stanislaus, American and Truckee River watersheds.

The watershed coordinator position is supported by funding from the California Department of Conservation, Carson Water Subconservancy District and the Alpine County Resource Advisory Committee.

Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in environmental science, natural resource management, or related field and experience with water quality monitoring and data analysis. Restoration experience is also preferred. Three to five years demonstrated experience in project management in an environmental or conservation position is desired.

Anyone interested should contact the group at 530-694-2327 or watershed@alpinecountyca.gov for a complete description of duties, qualifications and application process.
