Valley man faces 2-15 years after admitting felony DUI

A Carson Valley man faces up to 15 years in prison after he admitted to a single count of felony driving under the influence in Douglas County District Court on Tuesday.

Richard James Sargent, 49, was arrested Sept. 11, 2012, after witnesses reported him as a reckless driver.

A preliminary breath test revealed he had a blood alcohol content of .121, over the legal limit.

He has been convicted of driving under the influence twice in Iowa.

In Nevada, any subsequent felony DUI is punishable by 2-15 years in prison and a fine of $2,000-$5,000. Since he has already been convicted of a felony, he isn’t eligible for diversion.

Senior Judge Charles McGee set a March 4 sentencing date.
