The RC Morning Report for Sept. 4
September 4, 2013
Two earthquakes hit close to the same spot in the south county just west of Holbrook Junction this morning. The largest was recorded at 7:08 a.m. and measured 2.25 on the Richter Scale. Five minutes earlier, at 7:03 a.m., a 1.6 magnitude earthquake hit the same spot.
Genoa’s commitment to a fifth cowboy festival seems shakier than it actually is. The fourth edition of the festival appears to be well on its way. All the town board has to do is cross the T, which they plan to do the same day they hope to hire a new manager, Sept. 25.
Minden Town Board members will hear a proposal tonight to heat and cool the Farmer’s Bank building owned by Bently Enterprises using town water. Also on the agenda is a review of the site design for the Jake’s Wetlands trailhead. The town board meets at 5:30 p.m. in the CVIC Hall.
Another red sunrise this morning means that the Rim fire is still pumping out smoke. The air quality index is at 166 this morning after bottoming out at 213 at 1 a.m. It will lighten up later today.
