They’ll be spraying for mosquitoes in the northwest quadrant of the Valley this morning. They found a batch that tested positive for West Nile Virus
Two fires set by lightning on Monday night in the Carson Range continue to smolder above Carson Valley. Firefighters are working on the Faye and the Stutler fires, which are both at a quarter acre. No structures are threatened by the fires. You may see some smoke rise from either fire during the day as it picks up a bit.
The Elks Summerfest Carnival continues 5 p.m. today. The hours will expand on Saturday. The carnival is at Lampe Park in Gardnerville.
Expect delays as teams of roving crack sealers work on Fish Springs Road, Windmill Lane, East Valley Road and Drayton Boulevard.
There’s a chance we’ll see scattered thunderstorms today after lunchtime. Otherwise it will be mostly sunny with a high near 91 degrees and the wind out of the west at 5 mph shifting to the northeast in the afternoon.
