The RC Morning Report for Aug. 20
August 20, 2013
It seems the smoke is a little lighter today than it was on Monday. Certainly the number of fires burning hasn’t decreased with more than a dozen in the Sierra and Nevada. The big smoke producer continues to be the 14,765-acre American fire burning west of Tahoe and the 3,000-acre Chestnut fire burning east of Gabbs. Spring Creek fire threatening Bodie has been revised down to 12,000 acres. Neither fire is close to being contained.
A man facing multiple charges related to the assault of a 40-year-old man along Genoa Lane on May 25 is scheduled to appear in Douglas County District Court for arraignment. Miguel Rubio, 26, was arrested July 20 in connection with the incident.
There’s an excellent chance we’ll see showers and thunderstorms after 11 a.m. today, according to the National Weather Service. Expect light wind except near thunderstorms with a high temperature near 88 degrees. It seems to me that most storms have slotted along the Pine Nuts this summer, but there’s a chance they’ll break loose.
