The R-C Morning Report for May 13

Planning commissioners have one of the busiest meetings I’ve seen in a long time. They’re ranging from one of the county’s largest buildings, the ex-Horizon Casino, to a gas station sign for the Smith’s in Gardnerville, to a potential indoor shooting range. Planners meet 1 p.m. at the historic Douglas County Courthouse, 1616 Eighth St., in Minden.

There’s a long district court calendar this morning with murder suspect Melvin O. Norlund scheduled to appear before Judge Tod Young today. Also in the dock is a sentencing for Robert Tucker, 58, and Nancy Tucker, 56 who admitted stealing from an elderly neighbor. Under a plea agreement they’ll likely get probation.

We’ll have sunny skies and warmer temperatures today as temperatures climb into the upper 70s and lows in the 40s. Expect a northeast wind of 5-10 mph in the afternoon. We’ll see another cool-down, with temperatures dropping back into the 60s on Sunday.
