The R-C Morning Report for March 5
March 5, 2014
Gardnerville Town Board members approved seeking a $550,000 grant from the Nevada Department of Transportation for drainage and sidewalk improvements to the S-curve to make is safer. According to a plan distributed on Tuesday night, work would be done on both sides of Highway 395 eventually, though the grant doesn't quite cover all of it.
Speaking of Gardnerville, that's where our next race has developed with the filing of a fourth person for town board. Annette Philips filed on Tuesday afternoon. Also filing were improvement district incumbents Indian Hills' Bill Eisele and the Gardnerville Ranchos' Brad Newlon.
Minden Town Board members will discuss speeding on town streets, particularly on Wildrose, and placing stop signs where they'll do the most good to slow people down.
It's raining in spots this Ash Wednesday, but that should wrap up pretty soon. This evening we'll get the dry cycle when the wind picks up from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Thursday. Expect gusty winds of 20-35 mph gusting to 50-55 mph in spots. It will be a blustery night along Highway 395.
