The R-C Morning Report for June 26
June 27, 2015
Genoa, Nev. — Sharkey's revival in April may have shown up in the gaming win numbers for East Fork Township and Carson City in May. The combined area saw a 7.7 percent bump to $9.2 million for the month. The casinos at Stateline took a 6.76 percent hit, dropping to $16.1 million compared to May 2014.
The Pony Express Re-ride for 2015 officially ended 2 p.m. Thursday in Old Sacramento. The California riders made up some time, picking up more than two of the five hours late they got the mochila.
Douglas County commissioners approved new tax rates on Thursday in what I like to call the three-minute meeting. Next Thursday's commission session where commissioners are scheduled to hear an appeal on a solar plant will be a study in contrast.
Concert in the Park is tonight in Minden and I suspect the chairs are already starting to gather for their day-long pre-party.
There's a chance of isolated thunderstorms after 11 a.m. today. The smoke from the Washington Fire will keep the morning hazy until then. Otherwise the weather will be mostly sunny and hot with the high hitting 99 at least.
