The R-C Morning Report for Aug. 4
August 4, 2014
It’s going to be a busy week in Douglas County starting out with a gathering of county manager candidates today and Tuesday. The reception where people can meet them is 5:30 tonight at the Carson Valley Inn.
A 47-year-old former Gardnerville woman who embezzled from two employers before she was sent to prison is scheduled to appear in Douglas County District Court today. Marlo Weatherbee has been issued an order to show cause in a case where she took more than $20,000 from one employer. She was sentenced in June 2011 to 16-48 months in prison. That crime occurred six months after she was dishonorably discharged from probation, still owing a quarter of a million dollars.
There’s .03 inches of rain in my rain gauge this morning and it’s drizzling lightly on the patio. That seems about right for the Valley as the forecast for rain actually turned up. It has been a wet summer with Minden reporting nearly twice the average rainfall for July with .43 inches. Carson City reported 1.68 inches, during the month, most of which fell July 19-20, I wager, for 933 percent of average.
We may have already seen the showers forecast for today. There’s a good chance for thunderstorms after 11 a.m. Expect the high to hit an unseasonably cool 77 degrees. Summer’s due to return by Thursday.
