Around 150 residents packed the Johnson Lane Volunteer Fire Department on Tuesday night to let Douglas County commissioners Lee Bonner and Barry Penzel know that they weren’t too happy with the county’s response in the recent flooding. According to Bonner, a state committee is still working on its recommendation to the governor on the Douglas disaster declaration.

Thursday is the last day to drop off ballots for best of or vote online. Today’s paper has the last ballots we publish, so have at it.
We had some weather sneak up on us last night, though it appears we didn’t get any rain in the Valley, it looks like there was a smidge up in the Sierra. Today’s forecast is for mostly sunny and a high of 87 degrees. We’re supposed to see a cooling trend on Friday.
