A proposal to expand the Pentacostal Church of God, 921 Mitch Drive, requires a major variance because county staff believes they are short 33 parking spaces. According to the county the church should provide 79 spaces based on its square footage. Revised plans have it at 46 parking spaces. Planning commissioners meet 1 p.m. at the historic Douglas County Courthouse in Minden.
A Gardnerville man faces sentencing in connection with an incident where he doused himself with gasoline. Richard Vonderscher, 45, is scheduled to appear before Douglas County District Court Judge Tod Young this morning.
Douglas County School Board trustees will discuss their tentative budget today at their regular meeting at the Lake Tahoe Vistors Authority in Stateline. The meeting starts at 3:30 p.m. with the budget coming at 5:25 p.m.
We may not see a record-breaking high temperature today, after all. The forecast is for 74 degrees, down from 79 predicted on Monday. The record for today was 79 degrees set in 1977. The wind will be out of the west 5-10 mph this afternoon.
