The R-C Morning Report
February 4, 2013
An 18-year-old who was placed on probation after admitting a string of vehicle burglaries in Indian Hills in July 2012 is in district court this morning on a probation violation hearing. Nathan Centano faces a three-year prison sentence if Judge Michael Gibbons vacates his probation.
The numbers issued Saturday by the National Weather Service confirm that January was a dry month, with Minden receiving just under a quarter of its average moisture for the month, and Markleeville getting 10 percent. Where it counts, at the top of the mountain, snow telemetry shows Ebbetts Pass got a fifth of its average moisture while Monitor Pass just cracked a third. The good news is that the cold kept gains from December in the ice box putting us at 97 percent for the Carson Basin so far this year.
There won’t be much help for the water picture until the end of the week when snow returns to the forecast. Today will be mostly sunny with a high temperature near 55 degrees and the wind calm.
