The R-C Morning Report

In a rare instance, Douglas and Carson high schools are together in an online poll conducted by USA Today for the best rivalry in the West. The longstanding Douglas-Carson rivalry won best in the state on Monday. Right now we’re tied for second behind two southern Arizona schools (one of which is also named Douglas). You can vote as often as you like by going to http://contest.usatodayhss.com/vote/west. It gets a little tricky because you have to enter a code so they know you’re not a robot. Voting ends Wednesday night.
Gardnerville resident Paula Lane will be on the Today Show on Monday talking about her ordeal in the mountains. We don’t have a time right now, but I’ll share it the minute I get one.
There may be some tickets to David John and the Comstock Cowboys’ performances in the Genoa Town Hall on Saturday. Shows are at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. Tickets are $20 and on sale at the Genoa Town Office. For other weekend happenings, pick up a copy of The Record-Courier on stands today and check the calendar.
The Weather Service issued a fog advisory, but I can see lights across Carson Valley, so it shouldn’t be anything as thick as Thursday here. It sounds like there might be some in the eastern valleys, so be careful if you’re headed to Dayton or Fallon. Otherwise we should be looking at mostly sunny skies with a high in the mid-50s. We’ll see a dip in the high temperature over the weekend.
