The R-C Morning Report
November 5, 2012
A Carson City woman who admitted to stealing more than $75,000 from a Douglas County church is scheduled to be sentenced this morning. Tracey L. Taylor, 45, faces up to 10 years in prison on the embezzlement charge, but will likely be placed on probation in an effort to recover the money. Under a plea agreement, prosecutors said they would recommend a 2-5-year prison sentence that Judge Michael Gibbons could suspend.
Carson Valley is home to a second roundabout after Pinenut Road opened to traffic. The roundabout will eventually guide motorists either to the landfill or to the Walmart. Meanwhile, work on Grant Drive looks very nearly done, which should provide some relief for the businesses on Service Drive.
It will be sunny and warm today, but there are snowflakes in the forecast for the end of the week. Expect a high temperature today of 72 degrees with a light east wind. The low’s hovering around freezing right now, but snow or no, expect the lows to dip into the teens by the weekend.
