Mother Nature will pull a Halloween trick on us starting at 11 a.m. today when a red flag warning goes into effect for Western Nevada, due to gusty winds and low humidity. Expect winds 15-25 mph gusting to 35 mph through 8 p.m.
Trick-or-Treat Safety Street kicks off today at 3 p.m. today. Entry is $3, but there’s a lot of stuff for kids to win. There are also harvest festivals being sponsored all over Carson Valley. Have fun, but be careful. Today is also real Nevada Day, though we don’t have a parade or day off to celebrate it. Happy 148th, Nevada. We’ll just have to toast with some candy corn.
Early voting had its second highest day so far on Tuesday with 1,433 people showing up to cast a ballot in Minden or in Sunridge on Tuesday. The Sunridge polling station had the biggest turnout of any with 787. So far 47 percent of the active electorate has voted early or absentee, accounting for 13,459 ballots cast.
