The R-C Morning Report
October 23, 2012
Early voting goes on the road today with polls open at the Sunridge Fire Station 2-6:30 p.m. today and at the Gardnerville Ranchos Fire Station on Wednesday and Johnson Lane on Thursday. Polls at the Minden courthouse will remain open through early voting. As always, any voter can vote at any open polling place during early voting. On Election Day, voters must go to their precinct polling place.
The rain is trying to turn into snow north of Genoa this morning. My rain gauge reads 4-tenths of an inch from this storm so far on the west side, and its still coming down. So far this storm has closed Tioga, Sonora and Monitor passes.
Mammoth Lakes is reporting a foot of snow at 8,200 feet as of last night, and I’m sure there’s plenty more now as a winter storm warning continues in the Sierra from Truckee south to the Mono County line. Kirkwood’s reporting 8 inches of snow at the summit and 6.5 at the base. The Heavenly Snotel site is reporting 10 inches of snow containing 1.2 inches of moisture over the last 24 hours.
