Douglas County commissioners are meeting at 1 p.m. today to discuss priority based budgeting for the 2013-14 fiscal year. Rather than cutting across the board, the county would instead decide priorities and cut based on those priorities based on scoring programs. Commissioners will meet in the Emergency Operations Center, 1694 County Road, Minden.
A Carson City man faces up to six years in prison for trafficking in methamphetamine at his sentencing scheduled for this morning. Daniel Duckworth, 29, was arrested on May 2 with 4.58 grams of methamphetamine divided into six plastic bags and a glass vial. Under a plea deal the state agreed to recommend a maximum sentence of 12-30 months.
It will be sunny and warm on this first day of the water year, with a high temperature heading toward 89 degrees, and the wind calm, picking up to 5 mph out of the east this afternoon. Looking ahead, we’ll see a cool-down mid-week with the highs dropping into the 70s and lows into the 30s. However, there’s still no freeze in the forecast, and no precipitation.
