Sertoma raises stein on 23rd Oktoberfest
September 25, 2013
By 2 p.m. the apple strudel was gone, as hundreds of people turned out for Sertoma's 23rd annual Oktoberfest on Sunday.
"This is the best turnout I've ever seen," one Sertoman said of the crowd packing Gardnerville's Heritage Park.
Organizers sold sausages and sauerkraut as the Gruber Family Band performed favorites from "The Chicken Dance," to "Ein Prosit," as young and old danced in place or took to the floor set up for the purpose.
Sunny weather brought a break from Saturday's storms, and left cool sunshine in its wake.
Organizer Jim Woods said this year's event was a success, with 23 vendor booths joining the Sertomans food and drink sales.
Carson Valley Sertoma meets 7 a.m. Fridays for breakfast at Sharkey's in Gardnerville. Visitors are welcome.
