READing Paws program at library

During the summer, a READing Paws therapy dog will be available at the Douglas County Public Library 10:30 a.m. and noon Thursdays through July 27.

Children of all ages and reading levels are invited to read with a registered therapy dog and the dog's handler.  Each child will spend 15 minutes with a dog.  Time slots are available on a first come, first serve basis.  Parental permission is required, and permission forms are available at the library.  This program is offered in partnership with READing Paws, a local affiliate of Intermountain Therapy Animals.

Storytime at Dangberg Home Ranch

The Douglas County Public Library presents Storytime at Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park on 11 a.m. June.  Children of all ages are invited. 

The Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park is located at 1450 Highway 88 in Minden.  The park preserves the buildings and collection of artifacts from four generations of the Dangbergs.

Summer reading for adults

A summer reading program for adults is being sponsored by the Douglas County Public Library.

Adults ages 18 and older may register at the Minden Library or the Zephyr Cove Library.  Participants will get the opportunity to share their opinions on the books they read.  There will be door prizes for every book or audio book completed, and participants will be entered in weekly drawings for more prizes and for a chance to win the grand prize, a Samsung tablet.  Programs include a mug cake baking class and Bad Art Night.

The Minden Library is located at 1625 Library Lane. The Zephyr Cove Library is located at 233 Warrior Way.  

Library closed on July 4

Library hosts wildlife shows

As part of the library's summer reading fun, the Douglas County Public Library is providing two wildlife shows on July 12.  The first show will take place at 4 p.m. at the Zephyr Cove Library, 233 Warrior Way in Zephyr Cove.  The second show will begin at 6 p.m. at the CVIC Hall, 1602 Esmeralda Ave. in Minden.

 Live animals will be presented by Conservation Ambassadors, Inc.  These wildlife shows are free, and seating is available on a first come, first serve basis. 

Toddler Storytime Tuesdays

Toddler Storytime will continue at the Minden Library 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays through July 25. Felt board stories, songs and musical instruments are included.  Toddler Storytime is for ages 3 and younger.

Storytime at Lampe Park

The Douglas County Public Library will provide storytime at Lampe Park on Wednesdays at 10 a.m. through July 26.  Crafts will be included.  Storytime will be held near the Farmer's Market.  Children of all ages are welcome.

Legos at the Library

The Douglas County Public Library will be hosting a Lego Build 3-4 p.m. Tuesdays through July 25 at the Minden Library.  Listen to a story and recreate it using Lego bricks. 

Lego bricks and building materials will be provided by the library.  Lego Build Tuesdays are for children ages 4 and up are sponsored by the Friends of the Douglas County Public Library.
