R-C Morning Report
November 14, 2012
Heavenly Ski Resort is opening for the season at 9 a.m. today, and Kirkwood will be open on Friday. The lifts are still being evaluated this morning, but last weekend’s snow and steady snowmaking combined with cold temperatures allowed the resort to open two days early.
County commissioners on Tuesday certified the 2012 General Election. Clerk-Treasurer Ted Thran pointed out that Douglas County had the highest voter turnout in the state after Clark and Washoe counties. Our percentage of voters casting a ballot was first in the state.
Today and Thursday will be pretty good days to hit the slopes, but we’ve got some precipitation coming starting Thursday night and it’s going to stick around for a while. In a special statement issued by the National Weather Service, the first of two low pressure systems will bring rain and mountain snow Thursday and Friday, and a second system is expected late Saturday.
