Police seize 3/4 pound of meth

Quattro the South Lake Tahoe Police K-9 with the material found on Monday.

A Monday morning accident involving a Jaguar sedan in South Lake Tahoe resulted in the arrest of a San Mateo, Calif., couple and seizure of 3/4 pound of methamphetamine.

Jesus Cruz Torres, 28, Marleni Fuentes-Perez, 22, were allegedly westbound on Lake Tahoe Boulevard when they reportedly veered off the highway at Tata Lane and crashed into a fence and a streetlight.

Witnesses to the 11:38 a.m. accident said the two switched places in the car. When police contacted them in the parking lot of a church off Julie Lane, they told police that Fuentes-Perez was driving.

Officers became suspicious and called for narcotics dog Quattro to help search the Jaguar. That search led to 12 ounces of methamphetamine.

Both were booked into jail for hit and run, conspiracy and sales of methamphetamine.
