North Sails fire closes plant for two hours
June 26, 2013
A fire that closed North Sails Building No. 2 for two hours on Tuesday night is under investigation by the company’s safety personnel and the East Fork Fire District.
Reported at 9:30 p.m. as a chemical fire, East Fork units responded to the plant for a fire in an environmental control system that filters and recycles a solvent used in the production of carbon fiber sails, according to fire Capt. Terry Taylor.
A small amount of the chemical released in the incident was consumed by the flames, Taylor said.
The fire was contained to the equipment, and the building was declared safe for occupation by midnight.
