Nominations sought for community awards

Staff Reports

For the eighth year, The Carson Valley Chamber of Commerce and The Record-Courier is seeking nominations for the annual Community Recognition Awards.

Nominations are being sought in six categories, including business of the year, employee of the year, nonprofit organization of the year, service club of the year, volunteer of the year and citizen of the year. The winners will be honored at a Carson Valley formal dinner Nov. 8 at the Carson Valley Inn.

Nominations for the awards are being accepted through Oct. 30.

"It only takes one letter of nomination to be considered and the process is not an 'election' as the number of letters received in support of a particular person or group is not a factor," said Chamber Director Bill Chernock. "The nominating letters are then turned over to a committee of volunteers who make the final selection."

Nominating letters must be received at the chamber office in the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center at 1477 Highway 395 in Gardnerville by the end of the day on Oct. 30.

The selections will be announced the following week, and those selected will be guests of honor at the event. The event will feature entertainment, dinner and wine, the opportunity to bid on silent auction baskets created by members of the chamber's board of directors, and most importantly, a chance to be a part of saying thank-you to the honorees.
