New chocolate shop in town
August 7, 2012
“There’s no such thing as too much chocolate,” reads a custom-made chocolate bar at Lynn Falcone’s new Chocolate Shoppe by Sweet Images located in the Raley’s shopping center.
Falcone’s chocolates come in all shapes and sizes decorated with images of Carson Valley and Lake Tahoe, sprinkles, caramel and more. According to Falcone, all products are presented in custom and decorative gift bags and packages.
“We present them in a way where people can respect the product,” she said.
All treats are made in the shop and personalizations are made by request.
“We are very consistent with people’s concerns,” said Harvey Jasny, who works with Falcone in the shop. “We’re sensitive to that and are adapting to what the public asks for. We try to make them feel comfortable.”
Falcone said she has always been interested in chocolate and began trying out recipes on family and friends for years. She started Sweet Images six years ago as a wholesale and Internet seller. She opened a retail shop on Business Parkway, off Johnson Lane, six months ago. In May, she opened Chocolate Shoppe by Sweet Images just in time for Mother’s Day.

“It seemed like a natural offshoot of what she was already doing,” said Jasny. “We’ve had people come in and say, ‘You’re exactly what we need in this town.'”
There are more than 50 varieties of treats in the shop, but the most popular, according to Falcone, are the milk chocolate peanut butter, which they call “PB & C,” and Ashley’s Bordeoux.
“I’ve had children tell me that it’s better than Reeses,” she said of the chocolate peanut butter.
Falcone and Jasny love watching the reactions of their customers when they give out samples.
“When we give samples of Ashley’s Bordeoux, we love to step back and see their ‘oohs and aahs.’ It’s simply pleasuring,” said Falcone.
They said they’re appreciative of their customers and hope to make long-term friends.
“We want to see them leave with a smile,” said Jasny.
Chocolate Shoppe by Sweet Images is open 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
