Minden accidents snarl Highway 395, knock down pole

Staff Reports

Two accidents on Highway 395 in Minden snarled traffic for the morning and lunch commutes on Wednesday.

An accident involving two pickups resulted in a power pole being knocked over, which closed Highway 395 for about an hour.

NV Energy Spokeswoman Faye Andersen said the pole was a service drop for the daycare that occupies the building. Power company workers were still at the scene at 3 p.m.

"It's a good thing it wasn't on the south side of the highway, because that's where our main line is," she said. "Typically a service drop is the responsibility of the owner."

Neither of the drivers in the accident were transported as a result of the collision.

It was the second time in five hours that Highway 395 in Minden was blocked.
