Michael McDonald coming to CVI in August
March 19, 2017
Michael McDonald is coming to the Carson Valley Inn's TJ's Corral Outdoor Events Center on Friday, Aug. 18.
McDonald's career has expanded four decades.
In the mid-1970s, McDonald joined The Doobie Brothers, helping the band redefine their funky R&B sound as a singer, keyboardist and songwriter on such Top 40 singles as "Takin' It To The Streets," "It Keeps You Runnin'," "Minute By Minute" and "What A Fool Believes."
His distinct vocal style also made him one of the world's most sought-after session singers. Beyond his hits with The Doobies, McDonald has worked with other artists including Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, Elton John, Joni Mitchell, Vince Gill and Grizzly Bear. During the 1980s and 1990s, his solo career zoomed from success to success on the wings of evergreen hits like "Sweet Freedom," "On My Own" (a duet with Patti LaBelle) and the Grammy-winning duet with James Ingram "Yah Mo B There."
In all, he has won five Grammy Awards.
Tickets sales will be announced on http://www.carsonvalleyinn.com.
Tickets are currently on sale for the Nashville Nights Showcase on March 31 featuring singer-songwriter Alyssa Micaela. Micaela's debut single, "Getaway Car," generated more than 3 million streams during its first few weeks of release. She opened several shows for Willie Nelson last fall and has also opened for other popular touring acts including Eli Young Band, CAM, Jon Pardi, Aaron Watson and Sam Hunt.
Micaela will be performing with a trio at the CVI with those songs including "I'm In a Bar" and "Cowboys Like That," along with her goosebump-inducing, bilingual cover of Roy Orbison's "Crying" and others. It's happening at 8:30 p.m. Friday, March 31, in the Valley Ballroom. Tickets are $15 at the hotel desk or call 775-783-6606. For more information, visit http://www.carsonvalleyinn.com.
