Marine Corps veteran sworn in as deputy

A Marine Corps veteran was sworn in Monday as a new Douglas County deputy sheriff.
Steven Kimbrell was sworn in on Monday in a ceremony held at the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Valley Station, in Minden, according to Sheriff Ron Pierini.
The appointment comes as a result of several months of testing and evaluation consisting of a written examination, physical agility test, oral interview, extensive background investigation, psychological evaluation, polygraph examination and medical exam.
Kimbrell will now undergo a rigorous 12-week jail training program to provide him with the knowledge and skills necessary to perform his duties as a jail deputy.
Kimbrell is 27 years old and currently resides in Wellington. Kimbrell graduated from Folsom High School in Folsom, Calif. He is a seven-year U.S. Marine Corps veteran and is married with two children.
