Man arrested in Douglas for Reno slaying found dead in Fallon jail cell

A man, who was arrested in Carson Valley after the shooting death of his Reno roommate, was found dead in a Churchill County jail cell early this morning.
Billey Stanberry, 48, was found dead at about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, according to Sheriff Ben Trotter.
Trotter said Stanberry was discovered by jail deputies hanging from the bars of his cell.
Douglas County Sheriff's investigators arrested Stanberry on March 13 on an active warrant from Justice Court in Fallon. Stanberry was a person of interest in the shooting death of Ryan Petty, 47, whose body was found in the back yard of his Spanish Springs home after a tip that was traced back to Fallon. Stanberry lived in the home.
According to court records, Stanberry was booked for four felonies including assault with a deadly weapon, burglary with possession of a firearm attempt to commit a robbery with a deadly weapon and an ex-felon not to possess a firearm. He was also charged with aim a firearm at a human being, a gross misdemeanor.
Stanberry was accused of entering Charles Robert's home on South Nevada Street in Fallon and pointing a Ruger Robert's forehead and temple and demanding payment for Dorothy Lyster.
The ex-felon charge stemmed from a previous conviction out of the California Superior Court in Sacramento. He was being held on a cash-only bond of $88,500.
