Lake schools on weather delay

Whittell High and Zephyr Cove Elementary schools are on a one-hour delay this morning. When they come, the buses will stop at the main stops only.

Road controls are in effect on Highway 50 from three miles up Spooner Grade all the way to the California state line and over Kingsbury Grade. Chains or four-wheel drive are required to cross Echo Summit or Carson Pass, which is an improvement over Interstate 80.

Westbound trucks are being turned around and westbound traffic is being held at Truckee.

Today won’t be quite as windy as Monday, with scattered rain and snow showers before noon and then scattered rain showers. The snow level is at 5,100 feet this morning. There may be some snow on the valley floor on Wednesday, but until then it will mostly just be wet. Expect a high temperature of 48 today.
