Knights host bingo for Kids & Horses

Staff Reports

Special to the R-CShari Cardosi, Terrah Swartz, Ashlynn Ulmer on horse Ola, Lisa Fletcher, and Knight Phil Kerrigan at a check presentation for a 2009 bingo benefiting Kids & Horses.

The Knights of Columbus bingo on Friday will benefit Kids and Horses Therapeutic Riding Center in Carson Valley. The Kids and Horses program is a bridge leading to a life of freedom and self-fulfillment for children and adults with physical and/or emotional disabilities. Founded in April 1999, this program offers horsemanship as a means of therapy that improves strength, balance, coordination and self-esteem. More than a riding program, Kids & Horses is a philosophy that is based on the concept that every human being, regardless of their disabilities, can benefit from an equine relationship. The Knights of Columbus Gardnerville council Bingo Nights provide funds that can be used for local causes within Carson Valley. Doors open at 6 p.m., and games begin at 7 p.m. in the St. Gall Pastoral Center. There are two $1,199 jackpots and one $650 jackpot possible. Regular game jackpots are $100 and warm-up games’ jackpots are $50. The public is invited to come and play on the second and fourth Fridays of each month. Contact Chuck Ripoli at 265-6132 for more information.
