Fire destroys north Valley home

Staff Reports

AA home burns Saturday in the 2800 block of San Juan Circle in the Johnson Lane area. Units from Douglas County and Carson City responded to the blaze, which broke out in the early afternoon.

A three-alarm fire resulted in the destruction of a Saratoga Springs home on Saturday afternoon.

East Fork firefighters received the call at 1:30 p.m. that there was smoke coming from a home at 2886 San Juan Circle. When they arrived they found smoke coming from all sides of the attic, according to East Fork Fire Battalion Chief Scott Fraser.

About 20 minutes into the effort to extinguish the blaze, the roof was about to collapse and firefighters were pulled out of the house.

Fraser said high winds prompted a request for a third alarm. The fire spotted and burned a fence two doors down the street.

No one was home at the time of the fire. Firefighters saved a cat and two dogs by moving them into the backyard.

In addition to 10 engines, four ambulances, a heavy rescue and four command staff members for a total of 41 personnel responded to the fire.
