Donations accepted for veterans group

WAVE committee members Rob Webster, Rudy Hammond, Barry Penzel, founder, Tom Zogorski, Elks veterans chairman, Carl Schnock, Wave president and Debbie Posnien.

Tahoe-Douglas Elks Lodge 2670 recently made an $800 donation for start-up expenses to a new Douglas County veterans help group called Welcome All Veterans Everywhere.

The Elks donation is funded by the Elks National Veterans Freedom Grant. The grant also provides donations to the Reno VA Hospital, Veterans Guest Home, dinner for veterans and items for shipment to our troops in Afghanistan.

The mission of WAVE is to provide a welcoming, safe, nurturing, one-stop environment of professional services for veterans and their family members.

Office locations are now being evaluated. Anyone willing to donate space will be considered.

Any veteran with an urgent need, especially any homeless or low income veterans needing housing help, should immediately call WAVE President Carl Schnock at 781-4849.

Donations for this nonprofit are also now being accepted.
