Dayton crash victim David Arroyo Lamas dies of injuries

Skid marks show where a big rig overturned after colliding with a sedan on Highway 50 east of Carson City.

The occupants of a sedan that collided with a big rig east of Carson City on Tuesday died of their injuries.

The Nevada Highway Patrol identified Ana Laura Munoz, 18, and David Arroyo Lamas, 18, as the victims killed in the accident.

Trooper David Gibson said both Munoz and Lamas died Tuesday at Renown Regional Medical Center.

St. George, Utah, resident Gary Alan Williams, 61, who was driving the big rig, was treated and released from the hospital.

The crash occurred at about 11:45 a.m. Tuesday when a 2004 black Audi four-door pulled out onto Highway 50 from Ambrose Lane into the path of a red 2007 Wabash tractor pulling a trailer.

The commercial vehicle continued across both east and westbound lanes and overturned onto the north shoulder blocking all westbound lanes, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

Munoz and Lamas had to be extricated from the Audi were transported to Renown Regional Medical Center with critical injuries.

The highway was blocked for hours while troopers conducted their investigation into the accident.

Trooper Chris Kelly of the Nevada Highway Patrol Major Accident Investigation Team is investigating this accident.
