‘Cuts for a Cause’ raises $1,876 for Elisa Storke

A rainy and windy Sunday didn't dampen the enthusiasm of dozens of patrons who showed up at DragoSalon in Minden for "Cuts for a Cause" to benefit Elisa Storke.
Owner Drago Dimitri said the salon raised $1,876 Feb. 9 for Elisa, 33, who is undergoing cancer treatment.
She is the wife of Douglas County Sheriff's Investigator Jon Storke, whose mother, Sandy, is a patron of the salon.
"People started lining up about 9:15 a.m., even though we didn't start until 10 a.m.," Dimitri said.
The salon offered hair styles to 34 clients for a minimum donation of $20 each, with all proceeds going to the Storkes.
Eight stylists and two receptionists volunteered their time, working until 4 p.m.
"It was a wonderful thing," Dimitri said. "My girls were all there, working on their own time. One has moved on to the Lake, but she came back and helped. It was a lot of good energy."
He said the stylists refused to accept tips, insisting that all the money go to the Storkes.
"Overall, it was beautiful to see," Dimitri said. "This is why I've lived here for 30 years. We live in a great community, and have never walked away from helping anybody."
Dimitri said clients brought their spouses, some people came just to donate.
"People were just great about it," he said.
