Walley’s recognized by Wine Spectator Magazine
1862, the fine dining restaurant within David Walley’s Hot Springs Resort and Spa, has received the “2012 Award of Excellence” featured in the August edition of Wine Spectator Magazine.
Since 1981, Wine Spectator’s Restaurant Wine List Awards has recognized the world’s best wine lists. The program honors 3,795 restaurants across more than 70 countries.
To meet the criteria, the magazine looks for lists that offer a well-chosen selection of quality producers, along with a thematic match to the menu in both price and style, typically offering at least 100 wine selections.
1862’s wine list, chosen by certified sommelier Troy Denkler, offers a variety of wines from around the globe. The establishment’s cellar has more than 1,100 bottles to choose from.
“It’s a great honor to receive the ‘Award of Excellence,'” said Denkler. “Food and wine are things that everyone at 1862 David Walley’s Restaurant and Saloon is passionate about. There is nothing more rewarding than finding the perfect wine to complement our guests’ evening. The wines we offer are what we believe to be the very best that we can find from each region. We cherry-pick the best wines from the best producers from every region around the globe, and because of that, our bottles vary in price range from $20 to our $3,500 1990 Chateau Mouton.”
The complete list of the 2012 award winners is featured in the Aug. 31 issue of Wine Spectator. The restaurants can be found in the Restaurant Search at http://www.WineSpectator.com, along with more extensive details about their selection, cuisine, prices and key staff.
Celebrating 150 years, 1862 David Walley’s Hot Springs Resort is located at 2001 Foothill Road in Genoa.
