A man is in custody on charge of felony eluding arrest after he led Carson City deputies on a 100-mph chase prompted by a burglary report.
Brandon Peart, 32, was booked into Carson City jail after he was arrested on Tuesday afternoon when a resident on Golden Eagle reported seeing Peart in the area.
The incident began 4 p.m. Monday when a Carson resident caught a burglar inside a home in the 500 block of Roundup Road. The burglar threatened the resident with harm and took several guns with him.
The witness reported a description of the burglar and his vehicle and within minutes of the broadcast, the vehicle was spotted by Carson deputies.
When they tried to stop the vehicle, the driver took off with a high-speed chase into southeastern Carson City along the Carson River. The driver lost control of the vehicle near Rio Vista and abandoned the vehicle, according to the Carson City Sheriff's Office.
Deputies chased the man a mile across a valley and up a mountain into the dark. Deputies from Carson and Douglas were called in to look for the man with the help of Washoe County's RAVEN helicopter and the Nevada Highway Patrol. The search continued until past 8 p.m. on both sides of the Carson River.

Carson authorities said they have no reason to believe there is any ongoing threat to residents.
The vehicle in the pursuit is registered to Peart's mother. Both the vehicle and the contents are being evaluated for connections to the reported burglary offenses, deputies said.
