Assault report prompts arrest at Carson Valley Days Eve bar party

A Gardnerville woman was allegedly punched in the nose during the Carson Valley Days celebration downtown early Saturday morning.
The woman said she was standing near the back of the crowd behind a Gardnerville bar when she saw a man pushing his way through the crowd toward her.
When he got to her, she and witnesses said he punched her in the face.
Nicholas Langston, 30, was taken into custody after the woman completed a private party arrest form and deputies obtained two written witness statements.
Langston's was one of five arrests during the incident, according to sheriff's spokesman Sgt. Pat Brooks.
A 52-year-old East Valley woman who told a deputy said she'd been drinking at the annual party was arrested for DUI on Fish Springs Road 1:30 a.m. Saturday.
Brooks said that otherwise Friday night's Carson Valley Days celebration was well-attended and relatively peaceful, .
Highway 395 remained open through the evening thanks to effective crowd control and the cooperation of partygoers.
Others were arrested on Friday night in downtown Gardnerville on charges of disorderly conduct, civil protective custody and obstructing a police officer,
Another 11 arrests were made elsewhere in the county for driving under the influence, warrants, civil protective custody, trespassing and an outside agency arrest.
"The various public safety and support agencies involved in this event worked extremely well together," Brooks said.
"I extend my gratitude to the men and women of the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, East Fork Fire & Paramedic Districts, Douglas County Emergency Communications Center, and Nevada Highway Patrol for ensuring the event remained safe for all attendees," Sheriff Ron Pierini said. "I also extend my appreciation to the citizens of Douglas County for their cooperation with the road closure of Highway 395 through town on Saturday morning to accommodate the annual Carson Valley Days Parade."
