A 23-year-old Gardnerville woman is in stable but serious condition at a Reno hospital as the result of a Friday morning accident at Highway 395 and Airport Road.

Samantha McDougal, who was driving a brown Chevrolet, is at Renown Medical Center in Reno, according to Nevada Highway Patrol trooper Dan Lopez.

The driver of the other vehicle in the accident, a white Toyota pickup, Jason Michael Derrer, 28, of Gardnerville, was taken to Carson Valley Medical Center on Friday with nonlife threatening injuries.

Lopez said the accident occurred at 8:12 a.m. The preliminary investigation revealed that McDougal pulled out of Airport Road to make a left turn onto Highway 395 into the path of Derrer’s northbound pickup.

The pickup hit the sedan on the driver’s side. McDougal was flown to Renown by CareFlight helicopter. Derrer was transported by East Fork medics as a precautionary measure.

Northbound traffic was temporarily detoured while emergency crews worked the accident.
