I’m betting Minden and Genoa win the race to get their events done tonight before the storm arrives. There’s a winter weather advisory set to start at 10 p.m., by which time we’ll all be back in our beds with visions of sugarplums dancing in our heads.
The gazebo and tree lightings in Minden are set for 6 p.m. The tree lighting in Genoa starts at 5 p.m., but it takes a bit to get going. I’ve never found it possible to do both.
The big signs on either end of town announcing the road closure are for the Parade of Lights on Saturday. The parade is supposed to start at 5 p.m., so get into town before 4 p.m. to dodge the barricades. The state tends to close the highway early and fast.
We’ll be following up on the accident at Highway 395 and Gilman from last night at around 5:30 p.m. I heard two people were transported, but I have to check that. Traffic through there was a snarled mess.
