Heritage Park Gardens gets $5,000 grant

Main Street Gardnerville’s Heritage Park Gardens was one of 13 projects around the state to receive an award from the Nevada Department of Agriculture. The community garden project received $5,000 they will use to build a children’s garden area of Heritage Park Gardens, Main Street Manager Paula Lochridge said. According to the state, Heritage Park Gardens’ mission is to teach youth and parents about the health benefits of consuming fresh, locally grown produce “The Specialty Crop Block Grant Program is a critical way to experiment with and promote crops throughout the state,” said Director Jim Barbee. “We are grateful for …
