The Parent-Teacher Organization at Meneley Elementary announces the fifth annual “Walking on Sunshine” walk-a-thon 9:30-11:00 a.m. Sept. 20.
This all-school event emphasizes school spirit and healthy living; all students participate. Sponsorships are flat-rate donations instead of per-lap, and students who are accompanied by a responsible adult may solicit donations door-to-door.
This is the only fundraiser that the PTO holds during the school year, and 100 percent of the money collected stays within the school. Funds help cover the costs associated with the purchase of assemblies, classroom supplies, updated playground equipment, and special programs that include the science fair (held each fall), invention convention (held each spring), and yearly art celebration.
Students are eligible to earn a variety of prizes. Top earners in each grade level from kindergarten through sixth will be awarded brand-new bicycles, generously donated once again by City National Bank. For each $10 raised, students receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win additional items. Students who collect $20 in donations earn an LED key light; $40 will add a hacky sack. All walkers will receive a wristband.
In preparation for the event, the CCMES Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) holds its next meeting 3:30 p.m. Sept. 3 in the school library.
Please consider supporting of one of our local schools by contributing to this worthwhile fundraiser, either through a monetary donation, or by offering a prize for the raffle. For more information, please contact event coordinator Kathy Brown at either (775) 265-7025 or email@example.com.
