An open house on two loop trails in the Pine Nut Mountains will be 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Bureau of Land Management’s Carson City District Office, 5665 Morgan Mill Road.
BLM officials are seeking public comment on an environmental assessment for the Juniper and Pinyon Loop Trails Project. The public is invited to submit written comments through Aug. 30, prior to issuing the final assessment and decision.
The proposal would allow for the construction and maintenance of two, 6-mile nonmotorized loop trails. If approved, construction would likely begin in the fall of 2014. The preferred location for the trailhead for the Pinyon Loop is located on Pine Nut Road.
The assessment, maps, and other supporting documents are available at www.blm.gov/nv/st/en/fo/carson_city_field/blm_information/nepa.html.
The workshop will be from 6:30-8 p.m. A short presentation on the project will be at 6:45 p.m. Staff from the BLM and Carson Valley Trails Association will be available to provide information and view maps of the proposal.
Written comments may be submitted to Brian Buttazoni, Planning and Environmental Coordinator, 5665 Morgan Mill Rd, Carson City, Nev., 89701 or email at email@example.com.
