The RC Morning Report for July 22

Dust devils roaming the Bison fire prompted 911 calls on Saturday. They look just like smoke plumes so it’s not a surprise we’d get a couple. Alpine County had a couple of real fires started by lightning on Saturday evening north of Grover’s Hot Springs and on Hawkins Peak. Both fires were a fraction of an acre and were contained on Saturday night and out by Sunday morning.

The end of the heat alert doesn’t mean it’s suddenly going to cool off. The National Weather Service is telling residents to expect continued high temperatures in triple digits today with a chance of thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. Thunderstorms will be with us throughout the week

Today in Minden expect a high temperature of 97 degrees with a chance of isolated thunderstorms after 1 p.m. The wind will be out of the west at 5 mph.
