The RC Morning Report for July 5

The acreage on the Bison fire was revised down to 1,200 acres this morning as smoke from the fire hugs the Pine Nuts above Fish Springs. About 220 firefighters have a line 15 percent around the fire, which is headed away from homes toward the Ray May and Preacher burns. Fire managers hope to contain the fire by Sunday.

“Despicable Me” will be the movie in Heritage Park in Gardnerville tonight. The movie starts at dusk at the park located north of Highway 395 on Gilman Avenue.

While there aren’t any more thunderstorms in the forecast, it will be warm and windy this afternoon for firefighters working in the Pine Nuts. Expect a high temperature today of 95 degrees with breezy conditions and a southwest wind 5-10 mph, increasing to 15-20 mph in the afternoon, with gusts of 30 mph possible.
