Brush fire on Tarnahan Hill revised down to 25 acres

An approximately 25-acre fire was burning Wednesday night on Tarnahan Hill above Silver Saddle Ranch, according to the Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch Center. Original reports were that the fire had grown to 100 acres, but GPS mapping prompted the reduction in acreage.

Crews are working their way up to the fire which is in steep, rocky terrain. No structures are currently threatened.

The fire was started about 7:15 p.m. by a lightning strike.

The same storm that set the Tarnahan fire, also caused flooding around Bridgeport.

Mono County Sheriff’s Office reports flash flooding northeast of Bridgeport affected eight homes, including a flooded basement and a couple of inches of water on the main floor.

California Highway Patrol reports hail and slush 4 inches deep on Highway 182.
