The RC Morning Report for June 12

Red flag flying today

A red flag warning is in effect starting at 11 a.m. through 8 p.m. today as gusty winds and low humidity combine for critical fire weather. Expect winds today of 15-25 mph gusting to 45 mph in wind prone areas along Highway 395. Today’s high should hit somewhere around 80 degrees.

Mack Land & Cattle gets permit

Planning commissioners approved Minden resident Renee Mack’s request for a permit to use her family’s historic home into a special use house. The Mack Land & Cattle property was settled by H.H. and Wilamena Springmeyer, when they arrived from Germany in the 1860s. The property was one of the first to be recognized by the Nevada Centennial Ranch Committee.

Genoa power lines are gone

The power lines have been taken down in parts of downtown Genoa, but I can’t tell they’ve taken down a single pole yet. That part of the project should be happening soon now that the lines are disconnected.
