The RC Morning Report for May 2

Reset for roads

Additional road money is prompting county officials to ask that commissioners reject all bids for the 2013 road seal and overlay project and rebid it to include additional work. Also, there’s an $86,845 engineering contract for the reconstruction of Waterloo Lane. Once the engineering is done, the county will come back to commissioners with a construction cost estimate. Commissioners meet at 1 p.m. today at the historic Douglas County Courthouse, 1616 Eighth St., in Minden.

The bells of Genoa

Genoans successfully installed carillon bells in the town hall on Tuesday and they should be serenading visitors to the Cowboy Festival this weekend. The bells were paid for by private donations, and installed with the help of the townspeople.

Sunny day today

It will be sunny and warmer today, with the high climbing to 76 degrees and the wind calm then picking up later this morning to 5 mph out of the east. Friday will see another high temperature spike. There’s precipitation on the horizon for next week, when temperatures cool off again.
